Recognizing the importance of R&D and Innovation, India has declared 2010-20 as the “Decade of Innovation“. The Government of India decided to boost the Startup ecosystem in the country and help India become a nation of job creators rather than job seekers. There are around 5,000 ‘start-up incubators’ world over, of which 2000 are in United States and 1000 are in China. India has only 65 such facilities and the Government of India is trying to enhance the number to 1,000. Out of these 65, Gujarat accounts for just about 13 of them.

SMPIS StartUp Cell is involved in developing the entrepreneurial skills of the students by encouraging them to come up with innovative ideas.
